Midazolam Induced Abnormal Movements in Preterm Newborns: Case Series

Objectives − The aim of our article is to highlight the adverse effects midazolam, which causes abnormal behavior and a paradoxical behavioral reaction, although it used for sedation seizure control, as well preoperative procedure-related in neonates.Case Presentation We report myoclonic seizure-like activity four preterm neonates, who received intravenous midazolam before laser photocoagulation retinopathy prematurity seizures. All neonates had long NICU stay, but were clinically undergoing procedure. Cases 1, 2 3 developed multifocal movements after receiving injection therapy prematurity. Case 4 an In all cases controlled by phenobarbitone.Conclusion Midazolam increasingly being NICUs, caution must be exercised while administering with comorbidities. It difficult identify at risk, necessary aware cautious about when drug.
